Highlight of technologies

Kurita Dropwise Condensation (for Pulp and Paper)

Kurita Dropwise Technology is a high-performance chemical that can help to save energy and increase production in the paper-drying process.

This technology significantly improves the heat transfer rate by adding chemicals to the steam to make it water-repellent. This leads to energy savings through reduced steam consumption per unit of production and increased production through increased paper speed.

Features:
  • Provide water repellency inside the dryer
  • Improve productivity (reduce steam consumption per unit of production, increase paper speed, etc.)
  • Can be easily applied
  • Received the Energy Conservation Grand Prize in 2019 and the Sasaki Prize in 2023

Pitch (Sticky) Control

In the DIP (de-ink paper) and OCC (old-corrugated container) process, which recycles wastepaper and extracts the raw materials for paper, foreign matter contained in the waste paper is removed using technology that controls the bubbles generated by the flotation.

This makes it possible to economically produce paper of the specified quality. Combined with existing processes to modify the chemical properties of foreign matter during manufacturing processes. This will contribute greatly to improving productivity and reducing GHG emissions and resource inputs.

White Liquor Separation Promotor

KURITA PA series is a chemical used in white liquor separation process with pressure filter. The objectives are improving the efficiency of white liquor recovery.
This will reduce the specific consumption of caustic soda in the cooking process and suppress adverse effects on the kiln process—such as increased fuel consumption and scaling—caused by poor white liquor separation.

By improving the filtration efficiency of the PDF equipment used to recover white liquor required for pulp production in the causticizing equipment of the pulp production process. This will reduce the amount of additional alkaline ingredients that have been added up until now.

Mechanism

KURITA PA acts on the calcium carbonate particles constituting the lime mud in the slurry.

During pressure filtration, it improves the drainage of pore water between calcium carbonate particles.
