Ia telahpun ditunjukkan bahawa <b>jejak alam sekitar<\/b> dan pelepasan gas secara langsung berkaitan dengan kualiti hidup manusia. Tidak sama tinggal di rumah agam dengan tinggal di pangsapuri atau makan daging lembu setiap hari berbanding membina diet berdasarkan kacang dan sayur-sayuran. Walau bagaimanapun (dan nasib baik), trend kualiti hidup adalah menaik; setiap tahun, kita mencapai paras terendah rekod dalam bilangan orang yang hidup dalam kemiskinan melampau, orang yang kekurangan akses kepada air atau yang tidak celik huruf. Walau bagaimanapun, pada pendapat saya, yang paling mudah, paling cepat, dan paling murah untuk dilaksanakan ialah meningkatkan kecekapan tenaga.<\/p><p>Ini boleh merangkumi beralih kepada bahan api yang lebih cekap (daripada arang batu kepada biogas) atau penambahbaikan infrastruktur (menggantikan dandang konvensional) atau memperbaiki amalan (mengoptimumkan tingkah laku pengangkut untuk meningkatkan kecekapan penggunaan trak). Kami menemui satu kes masalah kerak di mana pelanggan menyaksikan bagaimana kerak itu menurunkan prestasi loji lebih daripada 2 MW tanpa dapat melakukan apa-apa.
