On 22 October 2026, PT. Kurita Indonesia conducted a Kurita Sharing Session for third- and fourth-year Chemical Engineering students at Universitas Indonesia in Depok, West Java. The session was organized to give students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of water treatment by connecting fundamental engineering concepts with practical laboratory experience.
During the session, Kurita Indonesia team introduced students to the fundamentals of water treatment, including the principles of coagulation and the role of water treatment chemicals. The learning then moved from theory into practice at the university’s laboratory. Students participated in hands-on activities using the jar test, a commonly used method for observing and evaluating the coagulation process.
Through this experience, students were able to see how differences in chemical treatment can influence water characteristics and gain a more practical understanding of concepts they encounter during their Chemical Engineering studies.
Mr. Toshinori Maema, President Director of PT. Kurita Indonesia, also participated in the session and shared his perspectives with the students. He highlighted the importance of engineers in contributing to society and encouraged young engineers to recognize the role they can play in addressing future environmental and industrial challenges. For Kurita, developing technology is important, but sharing knowledge and experience with future generations is also an important part of contributing to society.
Strengthening Connections Between Industry and Academia
PT. Kurita Indonesia was warmly received by Assistant Professor Apriliana Cahya Khayrani, Ph.D., representing the Chemical Engineering Department of Universitas Indonesia.
As part of the occasion, PT. Kurita Indonesia and Universitas Indonesia exchanged tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the connection and knowledge exchange established through the session. The activity provided an opportunity to bring industry experience closer to university education while giving students greater exposure to the practical application of water treatment technologies.
Through activities such as the Kurita Sharing Session, Kurita is committed to contribute its knowledge and experience in water treatment to support education and the development of future engineers.
