Cooling Tower Blowdown Recovery

Transform Cooling Tower Blowdown into a Valuable Water Resource

Water Scarcity

Water scarcity is becoming an increasingly critical issue across Southeast Asia. Although ASEAN is home to significant water resources, rapid urbanization, industrial growth, population expansion, and climate change are placing unprecedented pressure on freshwater availability. Several countries in the region are already experiencing recurring droughts, declining water quality, and growing competition for water among communities, agriculture, and industry.

Looking ahead, water stress is expected to intensify across Asia, with studies indicating that up to 3.4 billion people could face chronic water stress by 2050 if current trends continue. For ASEAN, this underscores the urgent need to accelerate water conservation, reuse, and sustainable water management strategies to secure long-term economic growth and environmental resilience.

Why is Water Recovery Important?

Water revalorization is essential for conserving this vital resource, especially in industries with high water consumption such as cooling towers.

Factors effecting future water costs:

Rising Water and Wastewater Costs

- Infrastructure upgrades
- Regulatory compliance

Water Scarcity and Climate Change

- Higher costs for sourcing and treating water
- Stricter regulations and penalties

Regulatory Changes

- Compliance costs
- Potential fines for non-compliance

Energy Costs

- Impact of energy prices on overall water costs
- Efficiency of cooling systems

Technological Advancements

- Improved water and energy efficiency
- Reduced water consumption
